Final Assessments
We would like a few moments to review the late start / school cancellation impacts on our current final assessment schedule plan.Ā
In the event of a late start due to poor weather during the final assessment schedule, this is a reminder of the plan to adjust the final assessment schedule.Ā In the event of any delay of cancellation, we will always send a review alert each morning to review the changes.Ā

School Cancellation plan for Jan 20-23
If school is cancelled on Jan 20-23, that plan cycle day will be moved to Jan 26th.Ā For example, if school is cancelled on Jan 20, that Day 3 cycle assessment plan will be moved to Jan 26th with us repeating this Day 3 plan.Ā The school will solve conflicts if a student is due to write Eng 10 on Jan 26th.
Exam schedule on Jan 28 and Jan 29
2 Hour elay – We simply begin the assessments at 11:00 AM, instead of 9:00 AM.Ā If there is a school cancellation on Jan 28 or 29, final assessment and marking day get pushed to the next day.Ā Ā
As in the past, we will send alerts each day to outline any adjustments listed above
We hope your student will be well-prepared for their upcoming final assessments.Ā
We always share this preparation guide with students and families.Ā
To ensure a smooth assessment period, please be aware of the following notes:
- Exam Room Rules:
- Be on time for the final assessment, lateness is a total disruption of the writing environment
- Students must be in the assessment room for at least two hours prior to dismissal.Ā Ā Ā
- No cell phones are permitted (With the new cell phone policy this is now an easier message).
- Washrooms should be used before the assessment begins.
- School Attendance:
- Students without final assessments should not attend school during exam days.
- Students present at school but not writing until later in the day must remain in the Horton Hall for final assessment purposes.
- Transportation:
- Buses will run daily, but alternative pick-up arrangements are encouraged.
Friday January 30th will be a marking day for high school staff and there will be no classes for all students. If there is a school cancellation during the assessment period, the high school marking day will be moved to Feb 2, with Semester 2 starting on Tuesday Feb 3.
Thank youĀ
Horton Administration
