Horton office hours – Horton office phones are only answered from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM. Sorry, we do not have an answering service option. If you need to alert the office outside these hours, I encourage you to Email jodye.routledge@avrce.ca or Text 902 670 8879
Horton High School is Scent Free
We have staff members and students who have a severe allergy to scented products. We are asking that you please make sure that students do not wear scented products to school. If you are visiting our school, please make sure you do not wear scented products.
School Attendance:
A friendly reminder to please inform us of all absences so they can be recorded as AWN (Absent with Notification) or MR (Medical Reason). If your child misses an assessment and their absence is not recorded as one of these codes in PowerSchool, their teacher will contact you to notify you of the missed assessment. Once marked AWN or MR, the assessment should be written in a timely manner.
Please help Horton promote positive school attendance.

End of Semester 1 Final Assessments – Schedule
A reminder to please review the planned end of semester 1 final assessments schedule. This year the province made a shift to just 2 final assessment days in January, meaning many assessments need to be planned during the final days of semester one. Our two assessment days will focus on Math and Literacy. This year’s schedule is significantly different from previous years. Staff will review it in detail with every class to prevent any confusion.

- Dec 4 – No Classes for students

- Jan 5 – First Day back to classes after Winter Break
- Jan 5-9 – rescheduled from December (Grad Photos – Schedule to follow)
- Jan 20-29 – Final Assessments – SCHEDULE
Reminders from Horton:
- Horton High School Late Start Plan (2 hour delay due to weather)
Buses will run 2 hours later than normal. A normal 8:35 pick-up would now be delayed until 10:35.
Bell times for the 2 hour delayed start
Warning bell: 10:55
Period 1: 11:00 – 11:50
Period 2: 11:55 – 12:45
Lunch: 12:45 – 1:32
Period 3: 1:37 – 2:27
Period 4: 2:32 – 3:22
- Bus Notes: Students should have all bus notes and afterschool plans decided before 2 PM (And not during last class)
