The D1 girls basketball team travelled to Sydney this weekend to compete in the Division 1 Girls Provincial Championships! The girls started the weekend off with a strong team win against CEC Friday night! Olivia McIntyre-King was super tough for us and hit some key shots in the second half. The girls advanced to the semi-finals and faced off against a strong Auburn team. Battling from behind the whole game, a 3 by Caitlyn Davis with 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter tied the score up. A key defensive stop by Rachel Veale in the last seconds of the game helped secure the win and send the girls to the Provincial Final. In the finals, the girls took on a talented Halifax West team and came out hot to start the game. The girls had a great third quarter thanks to Eva OāBrien and Ali Oluyole and were able to hold off the Warriors and secure the win as Provincial champs! It was an exciting weekend of basketball! A special shoutout to the 3 graduating players, Caitlyn Davis, Ali Oluyole and Rachel Veale who all had huge impacts on the games this weekend. Their leadership was key in the teams success!
