Here is a recap of the Auburn invitational for the division one girls basketball team
The division one girls basketball team travelled to Auburn and Woodlawn this weekend to compete in the Auburn invitational as their last tournament of the 2023 season. The girls got off to a great start with a convincing win over Saint Macās on Thursday. Adi Lockhart provided some toughness on offence and on the boards. The girls then played some of their best basketball against Armbrae Friday afternoon. Rachel Veale gave defensive intensity during the game that helped limit Armbrae to 18 points in the first half. The win against Armbrae was followed by another solid team win against Woodlawn Friday evening. Autumn Kuryluk brought some sharp shooting from around the arc which helped the team out offensively. Going 3-0 in round robin play advanced the girls to the semifinal on Saturday where they faced a talented Halifax West team. The girls battled back-and-forth and thanks to Caitlyn Davisā sharp shooting and Eva OāBrienās tough rebounding, the girls ended up winning the game. They faced off again against St Macās in the finals and pulled off a win to end the tournament season on a positive note. In the finals, Lily Walsh and Ali Oluyoleās offensive plays helped the girls pull off the win. The girls are back in action tonight against Armbrae for their Eastlink game at 6pm. Letās fill the gym and show some Griffin spirit!
