The Horton Track and Field team wrapped up their season this past weekend with an impressive showing at Beazley Field in Dartmouth.
On Friday, Kaylee Vaughn single handedly brought home the senior girls supported athletes banner with a gold in long jump, silver in shot put and a solid 6th place finish in the 100m sprint. Way to go Kaylee!!!
Six additional medals were tallied on Friday;
Ella Knock captured bronze in intermediate 80m hurdles
Julia Akao took bronze in senior Triple Jump
Olivia McIntyre-King soared to a silver in senior High Jump
Then a rare phenomenon occured when our senior boys swept the podium in the 1500m
Riley McCullochĀ won the gold
Titouan Sireyjol took Silver
Milo Stettler secured bronze
On Saturday, Horton stepped up and brought home 7 more medals:
Emily O’Brien blazed her way to a bronze in Intermediate 800m
Milo ran an incredible race to take silver in the senior 800m
Riley and Titouan were back at it taking gold and bronze in an extremely exciting senior 3000m race.
Our 4x400m teams then went to work
Henry Lee, Dawson Hiltz, Wilder Mills and Joel dePutter took the bronze in intermediate boys
Ellie Taylor, Emily O’Brien, Cate Smith and Ella Knock won gold in a nailbiter intermediate girls showdown with Dr JH Gillis from Antigonish.
Our senior boys team of Angus Sircom-Brown, Noah McComiskey-McFadden, Milo Stettler and Oliver Albert ended the meet on top of the podium with their gold medal performance holding off CEC for the victory.
Overall in team standings:
- Sr Boys placed 2nd in points
- Int Boys placed 3rdĀ
- Int Girls were 5thĀ
- Sr Girls were 6th
