Test Calendar / Assessment alertĀ
The school advisory committee recently addressed a student’s concern regarding assessment planning. The student suggested implementing mandatory minimum notice periods for all assessments to reduce unnecessary stress. While many teachers already provide sufficient notice, the lack of notice from some teachers for assessments was cited as a significant cause of increased student stress.
Specifically:
- Assignments: One or more days’ notice.
- Assessments: At least 3 days noticeĀ Ā
- Assessments: Limit the assessments per grade level to 2 per day.Ā
To proactively address concerns regarding assessment planning, Horton will implement a school-wide test calendar plan to coordinate assessments across all classes.Ā Teachers will review the test calendar when planning assessment to proactively schedule assessments to help support student learning.Ā
The assessment calendars will be promoted during each Horton monthly update to promote the use of the system in the community.Ā Parents and guardians should be able to view these calendars to help plan and organize their students for a successful assessment preparation.Ā
