Horton High School – Calendar UpdateĀ January 2026
A reminder that we need Horton High School to be Scent Free.Ā In previous years, scent concerns have increased in the days after the Winter break.Ā This can severely impact staff members and students who have a severe allergy to scented products. We are asking that you please make sure that students do not wear scented products to school.Ā
Horton office hours
The Horton office is only staffed to answer phones between 8:15 AM and 4:00 PM. We do not have an answering service available. To contact the office outside of these operating hours, please email jodye.routledge@avrce.ca or send a text message to 902-670-8879.
End of Semester 1 Final Assessments – ScheduleĀ
A reminder to review the planned end of semester 1 final assessments schedule with your student.Ā This year’s schedule is significantly different from previous years due to the province’s shift to 2 final assessment days.Ā Staff will review it in detail with every class to prevent any confusion.Ā The room writing assignments are now listed at the end of the posted schedule.Ā Ā

- Horton High School Late Start Plan (2 hour delay due to weather)Ā
Buses will run 2 hours later than normal.Ā A normal 8:35 pick-up would now be delayed until 10:35.

A friendly reminder to please inform us of all absences so they can be recorded as AWN (Absent with Notification) or MR (Medical Reason). If your child misses an assessment and their absence is not recorded as one of these codes in PowerSchool, their teacher will contact you to notify you of the missed assessment.Ā Once marked AWN or MR, the assessment should be written in a timely manner.Ā Please help Horton promote positive school attendance.
