The Horton JV girls basketball team travelled to New Glasgow on January 3/4 to take part in the annual Snow Jam basketball tournament hosted by North Nova Education Centre.
The girls had a fantastic weekend beating the host team 56-19 behind the offensive wizardry of Ana Bustin in the defensive prowess of Ella David. Next up was a hard fought 63-39 win over Springhill. Georgia Williams and Mya Levy showed why they are top senior leaders on the team and played huge roles in this game and the entire tournament.
In the championship game, Horton won a competitive 46-41 showdown with their rivals from CP Allen. Kylee Yeaton held the hot hand and made several huge shots down the stretch. Brynn King played incredible defense all weekend and stood out with both her rebounding and full court pressure.
The team received key contributions from all team members and the coaching staff was extremely proud of everyone’s “team first” attitude that resulted in capturing their first tournament banner in 3 years. Well done girls!
