Dear Students in Grades 9-11,
I am creating a Regional Student Advisory Committee to get advice and hear directly from high school students, specifically about student achievement, well-being, and your school experience.
The Committee will have up to two students from each high school in the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education (AVRCE), and I am hoping to have representation from all groups, including:
- Miākmaw/Indigenous communities
- People of African ancestry
- 2SLGBTGQIA+ communities
- Newcomers
- Disability communities
Students will serve a term of up to two years. The first meeting will happen in May so student selection in this first year will be limited to students in grades 9 -11.
The Committee will meet three times a year, typically in the fall, winter, and spring. These meetings may be held in personal or virtually.
If this sounds like an opportunity that interests you, please complete this Google form to apply. You will need to log in with your @gnspes.ca email address. The form asks you to share your name, school, grade, why you are interested in serving on the committee, and what would make you a good fit.
The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday, March 8th.
Students who are selected to be on the committee will be contacted by Friday, March 29th.
Thank you for considering this opportunity,
Dave Jones
AVRCE Regional Executive Director
