Division 1 Football

On November 5 the 7-0 Horton Football Griffins traveled to Halifax to take on the Citadel Phoenix at Saint Mary’s Stadium in quarterfinal action.

The Griffins opened scoring early with a field goal and closed the first half leading Citadel 10-3.

A tightly fought battle saw no scoring until late in the fourth when Citadel drove the field and scored to force overtime.

Horton won the OT coin toss and gave Citadel first opportunity to score but the defence came up big and forced a turnover.

On Horton’s next possession they drove the field and kicked a rouge to seal their first victory over Citadel in school history and advance to next week’s semi-final.

Final score 11-10 Horton.
