Schools Plus

What is SchoolsPlus?

SchoolsPlus provides

  • a comprehensive, collaborative, integrated delivery of services
  • sharing of information and resources between agencies
  • timely and effective services
  • accountability and use of evidence-based best practices
  • service beyond the school day
  • capacity building
  • family-friendly schools
SchoolsPlus promotes use of school facilities by students, families, and the community through Social work, health, justice, recreation, and mental health services offered at the school site,Ā  Early Years centres, family resource centres, and youth health centres located within schools

SchoolsPlus is a collaborative interagency approach supporting the whole child and their family with the school as the center of service delivery. The vision for SchoolsPlus is that schools become a convenient place for government and other services to be delivered to families. SchoolsPlus sites are supported by a facilitator and a team of two community outreach workers. They act as liaisons between the school and community and advocate, coordinate, and expand services for students and families. They help families navigate the system and get the services they need.

Our SchoolsPlus team can support students and families experiencing a variety of barriers by supporting in building relationships between school and home, helping families navigate available services and programs, coordinating and advocating for services for children and youth in areas like health, justice, mental health, community services, etc., and much more!

If you have questions regarding what support SchoolsPlus may be able to offer you or your family, feel free to reach out to our SchoolsPlus Facilitator for the Horton Family of Schools, Ally Loiselle, by calling 902-599-3870.
