COURSE REGISTRATION
Administration and School Counsellors have been busy preparing presentations and making plans to meet with all our students. We have prepared Google Classrooms to serve as a guide to the registration process for the incoming grade 8 students, our grade 9 students going into high school and the transition of grade 10 and 11 students. Please ask your child to share this information with you so that you can assist us in guiding your student through the immense process we are about to begin with them.
It is important that students take this process seriously to get into the proper courses. Once registered and scheduled, course changes may only be possible in extenuating circumstances due to class caps. It is not always easy to switch a selection; we try our best but we often run out of suitable options in the timetable.
Registration Timeline/Details
Administration will meet with all the students via Google Meet on February 7th to review all the important scheduling details. The presentation will be recorded, and information presented will be posted in the student Google Classroom for quick reference by students and parents. Follow-up meetings will be held in mid-February to help students complete their registration worksheets.
Guidance and Administration will provide a mechanism to allow students to book appointments for assistance with their course selections during the month of February. We will ensure that all students get the support that is needed for registration.
Course registration day will be held on March 1 during period 2. Administration, with the support of the teachers, will work through a process to help ensure that all students are registered or have access to the support needed to register for their September 2022 classes at Horton.
At the end of March, course request confirmation sheets will be sent home to all students. Parents are asked to sign the forms before they are returned to student services. Changes can be written on the form so that accurate data is used to start the scheduling process.
